A transparent polycarbonate cover that mates with SM05 Lens Tube System components. This cover protects the principle viewport window from damage caused by inadvertent impact with tools and other hard objects. It also serves to protect the window from contamination and dust. The polycarbonate lens should be removed during bake-out and replaced with an aluminum bake-out cap. These anodized aluminum caps ensure thermal uniformity and eliminates differential expansion across the covered window and seal.
